TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida’s new chief financial officer will take office today.

Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to swear in State Sen. Blaise Ingoglia, R-Brooksville, at a ceremony at noon in Tallahassee.

News 6 will stream the swearing-in live when it happens.

At 54, Ingoglia is stepping into the role of Chief Financial Officer after Jimmy Patronis resigned to successfully run for the U.S. House of Representatives in District 1 during a special election held earlier this year.

Ingoglia is a firebrand conservative who has been a DeSantis ally in the Florida Senate, advancing many of the governor’s priorities.

Ingoglia served in the Florida House from 2014 to 2022 before winning his Senate seat in 2022.

Ingoglia’s current Senate position, representing District 11—which includes Sumter, Citrus, Hernando, and parts of Pasco County—is marked as vacant on the Florida Senate’s official website.

The Chief Financial Officer’s duties include managing Florida’s financial resources and treasury, and they also lead the agency responsible for overseeing the insurance sector within the state, manage funeral and cemetery services, as well as serve as the state fire marshal. Additionally, the CFO is a member of the Florida Cabinet.
