Judge Lifts Gag Order in Bryan Kohberger Case, But So Far, Nobody’s Talking

Prosecutors have asked an Idaho judge to extend no contact orders for confessed killer Bryan Kohberger for 99 years.

In a motion filed last week, prosecutors noted that Kohberger was already barred from contacting the families of his victims through January 5, 2027.

Earlier this month, at the age of 30, Kohberger admitted his guilt in the horrific killings of Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapin, and Kaylee Goncalves. His sentencing is set for Wednesday, where he is anticipated to face four back-to-back life sentences without parole, in addition to 10 years for a burglary conviction.

The surprise plea deal took the death penalty off the table. Kohberger also waives his right to appeal under the deal.

At the time of the crime, Kohberger was a criminology graduate student at Washington State University. He fatally stabbed the four University of Idaho students during the early hours of November 13, 2022. Following a thorough investigation, authorities apprehended him six weeks later at his parents’ residence in Pennsylvania.

Kohberger’s legal representatives initially claimed he was simply driving alone on the night of the incident, but they unexpectedly sought a plea deal with prosecutors last month.
