AUGUSTA, Ga. ()- Salvation Army and Farmhaus Burger have partnered up this month to host a donation drive.

This drive aims to collect essential school supplies for children living at The Salvation Army’s Center of Hope shelter.

Now on average about fourteen students stay at The Salvation Army’s Center of Hope shelter due to homelessness.

Thanks to a partnership with Richmond County School System, buses allow transportation for those students to and from school daily.

Items needed are bookbags, pencils and pens, notebooks, markers and more.

But as of now they haven’t seen many donations.

“This year, we’ve faced challenges in securing donations of school supplies. I’m unsure why this is happening, but we are hopeful that in this final week of July, the community will come together to support the children staying at our shelter,” expressed Janelys Villalta, Marketing and PR Manager for the Salvation Army.

Farmhaus says they want to help ease the stress for these families.

“We are aware that this time of year is tough for families in need. The task of purchasing school supplies can be stressful. Our goal is to highlight this issue and perhaps relieve some of that stress,” mentioned Breannah Newton, Director of Operations at Farmhaus Burger.

Items can be dropped off during open hours at Farmhaus and the Salvation Army until the end of July.
