HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A 17-year-old girl and her 29-year-old brother were fatally shot Sunday morning in north Harris County after investigators say the teen’s armed ex-boyfriend arrived at a home and an argument turned deadly.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 200 block of West Canino Road at about 10:50 a.m. local time after reports of a shooting.
Investigators said preliminary information shows the teenage girl was outside the residence with a toddler when her 19-year-old ex-boyfriend arrived. Authorities said he was reportedly armed, and a confrontation followed.
The sheriff’s office said the teen’s older brother came out of the home and attempted to calm the situation. Investigators said he then moved in front of his sister in an effort to protect her before the ex-boyfriend opened fire, shooting both siblings and leaving the scene.

Deputies said they attempted life-saving measures after arriving, continuing until EMS crews got to the location. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. Authorities said the toddler was not injured.
HCSO said patrol units, with assistance from Humble Police Department officers and police dogs, located the suspect in the 8800 block of Will Clayton Road and took him into custody.
Sheriff’s officials said the case remains under investigation, and possible charges are pending.
