Suspect identified in May hit-and-run on Wheeler Road

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Arrest warrants have been issued by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office for 37-year-old Quanterius Marquette Nelson, concerning a severe hit-and-run incident occurring in May.

According to investigators, Nelson was implicated in the serious hit-and-run crash that took place on May 28, at the intersection of Wheeler Road and Frontage Road, which left 27-year-old Morgan Gray with critical injuries.

Nelson is facing charges of:

  • Serious Injury by Motor Vehicle
  • Felony Leaving the Scene of an Accident
  • Failure to Yield While Turning Left
  • Driving While License Suspended
  • No Insurance

“Thanks to the dedication of our investigators, we have gathered sufficient probable cause to proceed with charges,” stated Richmond County Sheriff Gino Brantley. “Our team has worked relentlessly to ensure accountability and justice in this case as swiftly as possible. We remain committed to our efforts until Mr. Nelson is captured.”
