CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — A flood watch is in effect for a number of Central Illinois counties and will last until Sunday.

Courtesy the National Weather Service, flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible for portions of the following Central Illinois counties:

  • Christian
  • DeWitt
  • Logan
  • Macon
  • McLean
  • Menard
  • Piatt
  • Sangamon
  • Champaign
  • Vermilion
  • Morgan

A flood watch has been issued for these counties, starting from 1:45 p.m. on Saturday and continuing until 1 p.m. on Sunday. Potential impacts include excessive runoff, which may cause flooding in rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying areas prone to flooding.
