4 Bodies Found in West Tennessee May Be Connected to Infant Abandoned in Stranger’s Yard

Law enforcement in a northwestern Tennessee county is currently looking into an infant who was left abandoned in someone’s yard, as well as the discovery of four bodies in an adjacent county.

The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed the two incidents are related but reported on both in the same Facebook post.

The baby, a 7-month-old girl, was left in a car seat around 3 p.m. on Tuesday in Tigrett, according to the sheriff’s office. By that afternoon, authorities had identified the child and were searching for three individuals – Cortney Rose, Matthew Wilson, and Adrianna Williams.

Social media posts from family and friends suggest that Wilson and Williams are the baby’s parents, while Rose is said to be Williams’ mother. Additional local posts indicated the baby’s uncle might also be missing.

Later in the evening, it was reported that the sheriff’s office was working alongside deputies in nearby Lake County, where four bodies were discovered.

“We are withholding the identities of the deceased until we can notify the next of kin,” stated the sheriff’s office. “The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have been called to assist with these events.”

“This is a deeply saddening day for our community,” Sheriff Jeff Box said. “We are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice is served.”

Lake County officials did not make a separate statement, instead reposting the Dyer County statement.
