SAVANNAH, Ga. () – Suspects arrested in connection to the deadly Oglethorpe Mall shooting were due in court for the first time Wednesday.

Chatham County District Attorney, Shalena Cook-Jones, has asked for a delay, stating that the investigation is still ongoing. She mentioned seeking help from the attorney general because of potential connections to gang activity.

“I’m trying to prosecute a gang case in Chatham County,” Cook-Jones said.

The continuance was granted by Judge Harmon, and a new court date was set for Aug. 27.
