Mother begs for help solving her son's 7-year-old murder case

BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC () – A mother is still pleading for answers in the murder of her son 7 years after his killing.

D’Andra Green is also working for other mothers who are grieving like she is.

Sean Aiken’s body was found in a ditch off Seabrook Center Road on July 18, 2018.

Investigators said he was at a house party when an armed suspect came in.

Aiken ran but didn’t get very far. He was shot in the back and left for dead.

“How heartless and malicious must you be to take someone’s life and then sleep soundly,” Green expressed with emotion. “You manage to carry on with your life, and all this time, it hasn’t weighed on your conscience. It doesn’t seem to trouble anyone’s conscience. I must keep reminding people that this is a reality. People desire to live just as I do, but my life is halted. I must continue to fight for justice. So, I will persist. I will keep coming back until justice is served. That is what a mother does.”

Green said she still remembers that horrific day, holding Sean’s cold hand soon after he had passed away.

She will never forget her so who was the light of her life in many ways.

“I am convinced, and will always be convinced, that my son was attempting to do good,” she stated. “He was taken from us because of it. I believe someone was trying to rob someone he cared about, or prevent a harm to someone he loved. This incident occurred when he turned his back.”

Even seven years later, Green still holds out hope someone will come forward and help find the person responsible.

“It all comes down to that morning. What vehicle was on that street?” Green remarked. “Who witnessed what on that street that morning and when did they see it? It all circles back to these details. Who was present on that street that morning? Because someone who was there, among those people present, must be the perpetrator.”

Green and investigators agreed that someone knows what happened that day and said it’s not snitching, it will give a family some peace.

“Protecting individuals isn’t beneficial. Beaufort is turning into the wild, wild West. Let’s take action to reclaim these streets for our children to ensure their safety. If you don’t care about your own well-being, fine, but let’s ensure the children have a chance to grow up safely.”

While awaiting information and assistance, Green now advocates against gun violence with Mothers Demand Action and has established a charity in her son Sean’s name, Sean’s Love Project, which provides food for the homeless in Tampa.

“Most family members don’t fully comprehend. They try and wish to support you, but they struggle with what to say,” Green noted. “You understand that they can’t grasp the grief, the pain. However, when you meet others who are experiencing the same thing, who can embrace you and share insights, it’s indeed something you never imagined. It’s remarkable.”

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office told there are no new leads in the case, but they just need someone to come forward so they can close this case and get justice.

There is now a $1,000 Crimestoppers reward for information that leads investigators to a suspect.

You can call 1-888-CRIME-SC with any information you may have and giving a mother some peace.

“It’s been a long time holding the secrets. There’s nothing that bad. Murders are still happening. If you know anything about what happened to my son, please tell someone. Tell someone. You don’t have to tell the police. Tell somebody else or tell the police. Just tell someone. My son deserves justice. He absolutely does. He absolutely does.”
