70s rock legend Dave Edmunds is fighting for his life in hospital after suffering a major cardiac arrest.

The 81-year-old performer, famous for his 1970 Christmas No.1 hit “I Hear You Knocking,” is reportedly in intensive care due to a medical emergency that has resulted in brain damage.

In a heartfelt Facebook post on Tuesday, Dave’s devastated wife Cici revealed the shocking news, recounting the terrifying moment her husband briefly ‘died in my arms,’ before medical professionals revived him.

Detailing the incident that occurred at their Rockfield home in Monmouthshire, Cici wrote: ‘Dave Edmunds, my cherished husband of 40 years, suffered a severe cardiac arrest as I mentioned earlier. He died in my arms as I frantically attempted to keep him alive, endeavoring to clear his airways of the fluids released from a human body at the time of death.

‘While on the floor with Dave unresponsive and fluid emerging from his mouth and other places, I struggled to control my emotions, though I was utterly heartbroken and terrified at witnessing my beloved husband lifeless in my arms.

‘My nurse was also on the floor next to Dave and me, persistently performing vigorous CPR. She called out, “Cici, I’m going to stop, Dave is gone. He is dead, Cici.” Yet, I couldn’t bring myself to quit or lose hope in a miraculous intervention to bring my husband back to life. God bless him.’
