Bed Bath & Beyond previews Nashville flagship reopening

Remember those iconic blue coupons? Two years after closing all of its stores around the country, a major retail chain is returning under a new name.

WASHINGTON — As Bed Bath & Beyond prepares to reopen as a physical store, it is offering customers a glimpse of its new flagship location that will officially welcome shoppers this Friday.

Owned by The Brand House Collective, Bed Bath & Beyond has revealed its freshly redesigned Nashville store through an Instagram post. The company recently disclosed that the new stores will operate under the name Bed Bath & Beyond Home.

An Instagram video showcases a familiar gesture as a store employee hands out the iconic blue and white coupon, resembling the ones from the original Bed Bath & Beyond era.

Images from another post reveal a storefront that long-time customers will recognize. The photos depict shelves stocked with towels, bedding, and lighting products, all aimed at rejuvenating home decor.

The store is situated at 1624 Galleria Blvd. in Brentwood, TN, within the space that once housed Kirkland’s (both brands are owned by The Brand House Collective).

To mark the grand opening on Friday, Aug. 8, officials announced that the Bed Bath & Beyond Home store will honor legacy coupons, including those issued before the original company declared bankruptcy in 2023.

Additionally, the first 25 customers to make a purchase will receive a queen-sized memory foam mattress as a doorbuster deal.

Will there be a Bed Bath & Beyond near me?

In an email, Brand House Collective Chief of Staff Starr Hudgens confirmed that the Nashville store is a pilot location, and more stores will be coming.

“We are using the Nashville market as our pilot and will begin to move to other areas after we test and learn,” she said.

Some of the new stores, when they are announced, will be converted Kirkland’s locations, like the Nashville store. Others will be new locations specifically opened as Bed Bath & Beyond Home.

The CEO of The Brand House Collective, Amy Sullivan, responded to comments under the Instagram posts, thanking supporters of the store for their excitement.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to give you more for your home and to expand our beloved Kirkland’s Home brand into more cities across the country through Bed Bath & Beyond stores,” she wrote.

For customers who have hung on to gift cards for Bed Bath & Beyond in the hope that they’d be redeemable later, Sullivan had bad news.

“Unfortunately we don’t have access to the past gift card program, this is completely different ownership and we would love to have you come in to see us,” she said.

But there is a silver lining: “I know our team has a small gift for anyone who had this happen,” she said. “While we can’t reverse what happened we can treat you with an added bonus as you come into our reimagined brand!”

What happened to Bed Bath & Beyond?

Bed Bath & Beyond — one of the original big box retailers known for its seemingly endless offerings of sheets, towels and kitchen gadgets — filed for bankruptcy protection in April 2023. The filing followed years of dismal sales and numerous attempts to turn the flailing business around.

By June the company had sold its intellectual property assets for $21.5 million to Overstock.com.

Overstock quickly took over the trademark, rebranding its online store to the more recognizable Bed Bath & Beyond name.

The company later bought and merged with Kirkland’s, which changed its name earlier this year to The Brand House Collective.

The company said it plans to open five more stores in the Nashville area, eventually converting around 75 Kirkland’s Home stores into Bed Bath & Beyond Home stores through 2026.
