A 14-year-old boy in Florida is in custody for allegedly shooting his parents and then walking over a mile to a church — where he called 911 and said, “Pray for me” — in the middle of the night, authorities state.

Trevor Lee, from Clay County, faces charges of two counts of second-degree murder for the fatal shootings of his mother, Brandi Smith, 45, and father, David Lee, 44, early Monday at their Middleburg residence, according to a police press release.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reports that Lee called 911 from Cross Pointe Church on Fleming Island at approximately 3:48 a.m. after walking about 1.4 miles to reach the location, Jacksonville news station WJXT shared. Allegedly, he informed a dispatcher “he had killed his parents” and was awaiting the police at the church.

“I was gonna ask if you could pray for me, ma’am,” Lee allegedly told a dispatcher.

“I’ll definitely be praying for you, son,” she replied.

Lee reportedly confessed to officers that he killed his parents inside their home on Silver Point in the Fleming Island vicinity of Middleburg, per WJXT. Subsequently, he was taken into custody without any issues at the church.

An additional call from Lee’s aunt — David Lee’s sister, who had reportedly somehow learned of the incident — provides details on the couple’s activities on Sunday before the teen allegedly murdered them, according to WJXT reports.

“They had a good day,” the aunt reportedly said. “They went to the movies.”

“It appears there was some sort of domestic argument,” said Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook at a press conference Monday. “This shooting culminated from that argument.”

Audio from Lee’s 911 call was released Tuesday by Clay County officials, along with his mugshot and arrest report, which details how he waited at Cross Pointe Church for police.

“Take a deep breath because they’re going to come up and talk to you, so you need to be listening for them, OK?” the dispatcher said, according to WJXT.

“Yes, ma’am,” Lee allegedly responded.

A Facebook account identified by relatives as belonging to Smith features a post from 2019 in which she said, “This lil boy gives me pure hell. Everything I did to my parents I’m getting it back times 10. Yall keep us lifted up in prayer.”

Police are reportedly looking into the teen’s mental health history.
