A Tennessee teenager has been arrested after two brothers were allegedly shot while making DoorDash deliveries. One brother was killed, while the other suffered critical injuries, authorities said.
Chad T. Wright, 16, faces charges of criminal homicide, attempted criminal homicide, and criminal conspiracy in connection with the death of 22-year-old John Diaz Santos and the shooting of his 14-year-old brother, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department announced.
The brothers were sitting in a black Infiniti sedan in the parking lot of the Birchstone Village Apartments on North Dupont Avenue in Madison, Tennessee, on Oct. 15, according to authorities and Law&Crime’s previous reporting. Madison is located just north of downtown Nashville.
Their father told regional NBC affiliate WSMV that the pair were completing DoorDash deliveries. Santos had been working as a delivery driver for more than a year. That evening, his father said, Santos mentioned that he planned to take his teenage brother along while making deliveries.
Police said the shooting began at approximately 7:45 p.m., when a person approached the Infiniti and opened fire. “Moments later, two more men approached and one of them also started shooting at the victims’ Infiniti,” investigators said in a preliminary account. The suspects then fled on foot.

Santos attempted to escape but crashed into a nearby fence. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died, police said. His younger brother was transported to a children’s hospital in critical condition.
Authorities have not released an update on the younger brother’s condition.
Wright was taken into custody Friday, Oct. 30, at his high school, police said. Investigators are considering robbery as a possible motive. Police did not say whether additional suspects remain at large.
A GoFundMe created for the brothers and their family describes Santos as “a loving, caring, hardworking young man with so many dreams and his whole life ahead of him.”
“As if losing John wasn’t heartbreaking enough, his brother Alan was also shot in the head,” the fundraiser states. “We are grieving one son while praying for a miracle for the other.”
