On Thursday afternoon, a shooting incident involving two Pennsylvania state troopers took place while they were attending to a call in Susquehanna County. Governor Josh Shapiro revealed this information during a public appearance in Bucks County.
“This remains an active incident, and once it concludes, I intend to visit the area myself,” Shapiro said.
The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) are deeply involved in investigating the situation that unfolded in the northeastern region of Susquehanna County. Officials have advised residents to stay clear of the vicinity around Route 171, approximately five miles north of Thompson, due to current safety threats.
PSP noted that further details about the suspect will be released when available.
Both troopers were transported to nearby hospitals. Their current conditions have not been disclosed.
Governor Shapiro expressed his concern on X, writing, “Lori and I are sending prayers to these courageous Troopers, along with their families, friends, and the entire State Police community.”
Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., called it “awful news.”
Expressing his sentiments, Fetterman commented on X, “Disturbing news from Susquehanna. We await further details and extend our thoughts and prayers to those affected state troopers.”
U.S. Senator Dave McCormick, R-Pa., also responded to the situation, sharing on social media, “Dina and I are keeping our brave state troopers in Susquehanna County in our prayers and are closely monitoring the situation as more details come to light.”
