THOMSON, Ga. () – Authorities have apprehended four individuals in relation to the 2020 double homicide of Cheryl Newsome and Troy Bennett in Thomson, as reported by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) this Friday.
According to an August 8 statement from the GBI, agents alongside deputies from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office have brought charges against Randy Hall, 39, Lora Thornton, 34, Chance McKenna, 21, and a juvenile. They face two counts of Murder, two counts of Armed Robbery, and a charge of first-degree Burglary linked to the deaths of Newsome and Bennett.
On August 3, 2020, Newsome and Bennett were discovered deceased in their Mitchell, Ga. residence. Investigators determined that a home invasion had taken place, prompting an ongoing inquiry by law enforcement.
Hall and Thornton were booked into the McDuffie County Jail. McKenna is currently in custody in the Georgia Department of Corrections.
