BURTON, S.C. () — The Burton Fire District (BFD) rescued a worker trapped in a lift suspended in the air Saturday morning.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., Burton firefighters responded to reports of a worker who was trapped in a boom lift on Roseida Road.
The worker was elevated 40 feet in the air while inside a boom lift’s extended bucket, which was leaning against a tree. Upon arrival, firefighters found the lift precarious on two wheels.
They stabilized the lift and utilized their ladder truck to safely rescue the worker, who fortunately suffered no injuries. He had been trapped for about 30 minutes.
“It seems the worker was trimming trees and the lift lost balance and tipped,” said Burton Engineer Eric Chapman at the scene. “We are grateful that when the bucket
started to fall it landed against a tree which caught it before it came crashing down and injured
the worker or worse.”
