ORLANDO, Fla. – Sunday brought warm temperatures across central Florida, with highs climbing into the upper 80s to low 90s.

Scattered showers moved through, with some delivering heavy rain lasting into the evening. Rainfall amounts varied across central Florida, with certain areas receiving over an inch, while others had less.

Tonight’s lows will remain muggy, settling in the mid-to-upper 70s under partly cloudy skies.

As kids head back to school this week, mornings at the bus stop will start off dry but humid, so lightweight, breathable clothing is a good idea.

Aug 11th Bus Stop Forecast (WKMG News 6)

By the late afternoon, patchy downpours are expected inland, so having an umbrella and raincoat for the commute home might be wise. Some heavy, slow-moving storms could cause minor flooding, similar to what occurred over the weekend.

Regarding the tropics, the National Hurricane Center is keeping a close eye on Invest 97L, an area of low pressure near the Cabo Verde Islands. There is a 60% chance of it developing into a tropical depression within 48 hours and a 90% chance over the next seven days. It could strengthen into Tropical Depression Five or even Tropical Storm Erin by mid-week, though its future course and potential impact on land remain unclear.
