Exclusive — Interior Secretary Doug Burgum: Trump's 'Drill Baby Drill' Means All Forms of Energy

President Donald Trump’s call to “drill baby drill” embraces the expansion of all types of U.S. energy, according to Interior Secretary Doug Burgum during his appearance on – News Daily

Host Mike Slater posed the question to Burgum, “How much more oil can we extract swiftly, and how many additional jobs and prosperity will it generate for America?”

Burgum elaborated, “When Trump says, ‘drill baby drill,’ he refers to tapping into all forms of energy. This includes enhancing electricity to advance in the artificial intelligence arena. Additionally, it’s about liquid fuels for transportation and other uses — almost everything relies on energy. The food we eat and the clothes we wear have energy components. We need more energy that’s both abundant and affordable.”

“President Trump aims to overcome inflation challenges,” Burgum stated. “He reduced it from its highest in 40 years to 2% in just six months partly by indicating that we would harness American energy. Energy trade plays a crucial role in prosperity. We should sell energy to our allies, ensuring they purchase from us rather than from adversaries,” he highlighted, pointing out the resources the U.S. possesses, such as in Alaska.

“President Trump advocates for intelligent strategies like those we executed when building the Alaska oil pipeline in the ’70s. Like that engineering marvel, we should now construct a natural gas pipeline alongside it, exporting liquid natural gas to Japan, Korea, the Philippines, and Vietnam,” Burgum continued, emphasizing that U.S. allies in the Pacific rely heavily on energy from the Middle East.

“The logistics from Alaska to Tokyo take eight days, whereas from the Middle East, it takes 24 to 28 days, traversing the South China Sea, where China boasts the largest navy. If tensions rise over Taiwan, our 29,000 troops in South Korea and allies may face an energy crisis within two weeks. Our objective is not merely to counterbalance Russia, which finances its war efforts through clandestine fleets and energy sales,” Burgum concluded.

Ultimately, the Interior Secretary said Trump “understands the strategic nature of this, and he understands how it ties into pricing and affordability.”

“And thank goodness we’ve got him in the driver’s seat,” Burgum continued, also confirming that the U.S. already has abundant energy resources in the ground, specifically pointing to the shale revolution.
