CHICAGO (WLS) — Five people were shot outside a senior living building on the city’s South Side on Monday afternoon, Chicago police said.
Police said officers responded to a call about a shooting in the Bronzeville neighborhood’s 700-block of East 43rd Street just before 3:30 p.m.

Two individuals, preferring to remain off-camera, informed ABC7 that they heard more than a dozen gunshots near Judge Slater Apartments, which is a residence for seniors.
A woman of an unknown age, shot in the leg, was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition.
A 72-year-old woman, shot in the shoulder, was taken to the same hospital in good condition.
Three men were injured in the incident: a 35-year-old was shot in the arm, a 44-year-old suffered a foot injury, and a 39-year-old was also shot in the arm. All were transported to the same hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.

What led up to the shooting was not immediately clear.
The police swiftly widened the crime scene, closing off the intersection at 43rd and Cottage Grove. Investigators found numerous shell casings scattered on the ground as they examined the site.
No one is in custody, and Area One detectives are investigating.
Police did not immediately provide further information.
