AUGUSTA, Ga. () – Georgia’s Attorney General, Chris Carr, who is campaigning to become the state’s next governor, made a visit to the Rotary Club of Augusta on Monday.

As the featured speaker at a luncheon held on Aug. 11 at the Rotary Club, Carr addressed significant issues facing Georgia. He emphasized that the state is at the forefront of combatting human trafficking, having rescued over 250 victims so far. Offices have been established in Augusta, Macon, and Atlanta, with plans for further expansions. Carr highlighted the importance of focusing on treatment strategies to reduce overdose fatalities in Georgia.

Carr also spoke briefly on his candidacy for Georgia governor.

“We have truly developed Georgia into a national leader in economic advancement while also ensuring public safety. This is crucial, regardless of political affiliation—be it Republican, Democrat, or independent—people want employment opportunities and security,” Carr remarked. “We are committed to continuing our efforts against human trafficking, gang-related crimes, and organized retail theft. Additionally, we must address mental health issues, particularly to support our law enforcement officers.”

Carr shared that he has lodged an ethics complaint and filed a federal lawsuit against Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones to ensure adherence to rules that apply to all individuals.
