She was unable to contain her smile as she worked with Joshua Jackson last week.

But Katie Holmes was looking glum as she returned to the set of Happy Hours on Monday.  

The 46-year-old Dawson’s Creek star wasn’t exactly living up to the film’s name as she conversed with Joshua during a scene set in front of the Dear Strangers restaurant in Greenwich Village.

The latest day of filming comes days after Joshua sparked romance rumors with Bridgerton star Simone Ashley. 

It seemed as though nothing could break Katie’s concentration as she brought her vision to life.  

Katie, 47, was in full filmmaker mode as she chatted with her former co-star, even gesturing to make a point.

It’s a contrast from the considerably more giddy display she put on last week 

Joshua listened on intently, his hand rubbing his chin with a studious flourish.

Katie, hair piled up into a messy bun, wore a bright red button down shirt and graphic T-shirt tucked into a belted pair of jeans.

Joshua opted for a graphic T-shirt, jeans, and leather footwear with a handy watch on his wrist.

Katie was able to lighten up at one point, as she cracked a smile while enjoying a Diet Coke break.

As the director, writer, and one of the stars of the film, Katie certainly has a lot on her plate when it comes to this particular project.  

This upcoming movie marks another collaboration between Katie and Joshua, who are well-known for their roles in the popular high school series Dawson’s Creek, which aired from 1998 to 2002.

The pair even dated in real life, from 1998 to 1999.   

Last week Katie couldn’t have looked any happier working with Joshua on set – a trait that did not go unnoticed by various netizens. 

The googly eyes were not for a movie scene: Holmes was sizzling when the cameras were off too as they were seen on a busy sidewalk.

The chemistry was palpable as they looked at each other and joked around while chatting with the crew.

A fan commented on Katie’s cheerful demeanor around Joshua, saying, “She seems like she’s still in love with him.” Katie has a 19-year-old daughter, Suri Cruise, with her former husband, Tom Cruise.

Another added, “She definitely has feelings for him, who can blame her? He’s quite charming!” And someone else noted, “I’m smitten with how in love she seems with Pacey.”

One also wrote: ‘This dude needs to put a ring on it ASAP: Katie is the catch of the century. You won’t find better.’

But Joshua has since sparked romance rumors with someone else. 

The actor was spotted getting cozy with the actress Simone Ashley over the weekend.

The Affair star was pictured strolling with the 30-year-old Bridgerton actress on Saturday in New York City. 

Jackson and Ashley were seen spending time together two years after Jackson’s split from Jodie Turner-Smith, the mother of his five-year-old daughter Juno.

Ashley recently ended a relationship as well, announcing in February that she and Constantin Klein had parted ways after nearly three years together.
