Peter Andrew is an autodidactic chef and floor installer who has become a contestant on MasterChef UK 2025. Hailing from Staffordshire, he developed a passion for cooking in his early 20s. His culinary approach is rooted in tradition, drawing inspiration from wild and locally-sourced ingredients, particularly fish and game.

Reflecting on his earliest memories of cooking, Peter shared with the BBC: “My mom is an excellent cook, and my grandparents were always baking. I was fortunate at home; my mom consistently prepared delicious meals, especially Sunday lunches. My current cooking style is definitely influenced by the traditional home-cooked meals my mom made during my childhood. On weekends, my dad often visited the butcher’s shop.”

When asked to name his preferred cooking ingredient and the reason for it, the home chef replied: “I love using wild game such as pigeon and pheasant, as they have an exceptional, unique taste. They are not only healthy but taste amazing when prepared with simplicity, particularly over open coals.”

Peter Andrew is competing in Series 21 of MasterChef UK, which is hosted by John Torode and Gregg Wallace on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. He will face off in the MasterChef kitchen during the second week of heats alongside Emily Haworth, Fay Souissi, Gabriel Toumazis, Mickaël, and Nick.

Peter’s entry into MasterChef was quite spontaneous. He recounted: “I’ve always had a passion for cooking. One evening, after a few too many glasses of red wine while watching an episode at my mom’s, I impulsively sent an application email and didn’t think about it afterward.”
