() A handyman suspected of killing a woman in Washington state was arrested in the Los Angeles area Monday after a nearly weeklong manhunt, according to officials.

The Los Angeles Police Department arrested Alexander Lee Rogers, 51, after his car was found in the city, affiliate KOIN reported.

Rogers is accused of fatally stabbing Dawn Peters, 64, and injuring her brother-in-law, 73-year-old Andrew Peters, on Aug. 5 inside their Longview, Washington, home.

Police credited a chance traffic stop for the fast identification of Rogers, who was captured on body camera footage the same day as the stabbings, before the violence.

By cross-checking Ring camera footage from the scene of the crime, police identified Rogers as the suspect, and the search began.

Dawn Peters’ nephew, Stephen Butler, said Rogers was working as a handyman at the house before the attack.

Four family members lived there Andrew, Dawn, her husband Dwayne, and her father Richard and all were home when Rogers attacked, Butler said.

Butler said he and his family are searching for answers.

“To this very second, we don’t know what prompted this to happen,” he said. “Everybody loved her. She took care of everybody, and she was a wonderful person.”

Police have not disclosed a motive. Rogers is expected to be extradited back to Washington state, though no timeline has been made official.
