In a recent episode of the podcast “Aspire With Emma Grede,” Mark Cuban, a billionaire entrepreneur, emphasized the importance of business owners familiarizing themselves with AI technology. He suggested that companies that haven’t started utilizing AI or even exploring its capabilities could be at risk.
Emma Grede, co-founder of Skims and CEO of Good American, inquired what Cuban would say to those who are hesitant to embrace more technology. Cuban compared this reluctance to refusing advancements like WiFi in favor of outdated dial-up internet.
“It’s akin to a business refusing to adopt PCs, the internet, mobile phones, or WiFi,” Cuban explained. “Those companies didn’t survive.”
Cuban and Grede previously worked together on two seasons of “Shark Tank.”
Recalling technology’s early evolution, Cuban remarked how new software emerged daily as PCs and networks advanced in speed, much like AI developments now. He likened the current AI trend to the introduction of personal computers.
And according to what Grede told Fortune (that Cuban has 60 AI apps on his phone), he’s clearly at the forefront.
“We really delved into AI, [and he] gave me a new urgency around how I use AI,” Grede told the outlet. “He gave me a kick.”
During the podcast, Cuban advised aspiring entrepreneurs to start experimenting with AI, as it offers valuable insights into its functionalities. He highlighted AI’s potential to enhance various business operations, from creating content to preparing slide presentations and financial documents.
“Learn how to prompt; it becomes like a mentor,” Cuban said. “It becomes like having an entire staff of a thousand business professors.”
“We’re in a whole new world,” he added.

On a recent episode of the “Aspire With Emma Grede” podcast, billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban said that he thinks every business owner should be learning how to use AI by now, or at least “just asking it questions” — and if you aren’t, your business could be in trouble.
Grede, the co-founder of Skims and CEO of Good American, asked Cuban what he’d say to people who “don’t want any more technology” in their lives. He responded that it would be like saying no to WiFi and instead sticking to dial-up Internet service.
