Some individuals enjoy staying at the forefront of technology. If this describes you, you’re probably aware that Google is set to officially reveal its Pixel 10 phones (including a new Fold) at the August 20th event. However, if you prefer using these occasions to get discounts on previous-gen tech, there’s a great offer on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The base 256GB model in obsidian (black) is currently priced at $1,199 on Amazon and Best Buy, marking a 33 percent reduction from its original $1,799 price. Just last week, it was being sold for $100 more.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold represented a significant step forward compared to Google’s first-generation foldable, featuring a lightweight design that appears and feels like a typical phone until unfolded. One notable downside, however, was that despite its high original price, it lacked the stellar cameras found in the cheaper Pixel 9 Pro (currently available for just $599 at Best Buy). While the cameras are still impressive, reviewer Allison Johnson noted that during her tests, its telephoto lens resulted in softer images, and low-light photos were less detailed. Despite these limitations, she was keen to recommend the foldable phone even at its original price of $1,800.
The launch of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is imminent, and it’s expected to bring substantial enhancements. Google has already displayed its design in YouTube videos, closely resembling the current model on sale. Rumors suggest it might feature an IP68 rating, which would render it dustproof. Dust was a significant issue for earlier foldable models, but with advancements in technology, this feature could be a significant advantage for the new model if accurate.
