The originator of Xtreme Hip Hop with Phil visited Johnson City on Saturday, sharing his energetic fitness regimen with the community at the Memorial Park Community Center.

Phillip Weeden said he was excited to visit Johnson City and share his passion for step fitness.

“I’m thrilled to be in Johnson City, Tennessee,” Weeden expressed. “I had never heard of the city before, but I’m grateful to be here and make a difference in people’s lives through my fitness program because it truly changed mine.”

Weeden said his battle with depression inspired him to keep moving, and now he hopes to encourage others to try.

“I struggled with depression… and step exercise is what helps me; it calms me and lets me release everything,” Weeden explained. “On the other hand, when I step, it’s like I’m showing the extroverted side of myself, having fun… I love what I do because it allows me to impact others’ lives.”

He encourages beginners to start small and learn at their own pace.

“So that way you can learn and go off there, and then you come to the city near me and have fun with me,” Weeden said.
