Oklahoma testing some incoming teachers to spot 'radical leftist ideology'

Oklahoma Evaluates New Teachers to Identify Signs of ‘Extreme Leftist Beliefs’

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (The Hill) – Oklahoma is set to introduce a new test for out-of-state teachers, a strategy the state superintendent describes as a measure to eliminate “radical leftist ideology” in schools.

The test, to be conducted by the conservative educational organization PragerU, is a requisite for these teachers to obtain an Oklahoma certification.

“As superintendent, I will ensure Oklahoma classrooms are protected from the progressive ideologies cultivated in regions like California and New York. Teachers from these areas must pass our new PragerU assessment for certification. We are determined not to allow Gavin Newsom’s progressive, Marxist policies to turn Oklahoma into the chaos that California has become,” Ryan Walters stated.

The test has not been administered yet but a spokesperson for Walters’s office said it will be “very soon.”

Although the complete test was not disclosed, select questions reviewed by The Hill involve fundamental civics topics, such as the initial words of the Constitution and the significance of religious freedom in America.

This initiative follows other contentious measures by Walters in Oklahoma, which include efforts to introduce Bibles into every classroom and altering the teaching of the 2020 election to incorporate President Trump’s unfounded claims of extensive election fraud.
