ADDISON, Ill. (WLS) — A suburban teenager is coming forward to say she is one of the victims of a suburban ice cream shop owner.
Steven Weisberg, a 58-year-old resident of Buffalo Grove, is facing charges for allegedly filming women and girls in the bathroom of Flavor Frenzy in Addison without their knowledge. His charges include accusations related to child pornography.

“During my conversation with him, he seemed very chatty and friendly… However, the situation intensified quickly,” shared alleged victim Raina Ashrafi. “He just came off as creepy. We didn’t think much of it at first and didn’t expect it to escalate.”
Flavor Frenzy, an ice cream shop in Addison, was where Ashrafi worked for her first job last summer when she was 16. Her former employer is now detained, accused of recording the young staff members covertly, potentially over several years, in a bathroom area as they changed clothes.
“Every female employee was asked, at the beginning of summer, to sort of participate in a modeling campaign, is what he called it,” Ashrafi said.
The unsettling allegations involving Ashrafi’s former employer have caused her to reflect on her experience at Flavor Frenzy, where she worked from March to September of last year.
“He would instruct us to go into the bathroom and change shirts with a specified bra or tank top repeatedly… Afterward, we’d emerge and pose for a picture, then repeat the process,” Ashrafi explained. “We never saw these pictures, they weren’t displayed anywhere. No customer bought any related items, so it seems the real intent was getting us undressed in that bathroom because that’s where the camera was hidden.”
Weisberg’s arrest happened last Friday, following an anonymous tip-off that led an undercover officer to find a fake electrical outlet concealing a camera in the shop’s bathroom.
Prosecutors said the wall outlet hid a small camera in one of the receptacles, positioned to capture portions of the restroom, including a urinal. Prosecutors believe Weisberg installed the camera years ago.
According to prosecutors, more than a dozen alleged videos were found on Weisberg’s phone, some including minors, showing some people undressing and naked.
“I hope he gets everything that he deserves,” Ashrafi said.
Now 18, Ashrafi prepares to begin college at the Missouri School of Journalism. She said she has some relief knowing her former boss is being held in jail ahead of his trial on child pornography and unauthorized recording charges.
“I hope knows just how much of a negative impact he’s had on everyone’s lives,” Ashrafi said.
Weisberg is due in court again next month. Police said his ice cream shop here will remain closed and that its business license was voluntarily surrendered.
