A confrontation in Los Angeles escalated into a terrifying close call when an angry driver allegedly tried to run down a couple walking with their dog.
The alarming scene was captured Wednesday evening on an Uber driver’s dashcam near Harold A. Henry Park in Mid-Wilshire, where video shows an orange car following the man and his fiancée along the edge of the park.
“I just run straight on the grass as far back as I can, I look back and I see his car like right behind me,” the woman, Celine, told ABC 7.
According to the couple, the encounter began at a stop sign when they gestured for the driver to continue through the intersection so they could cross the street afterward.
“We weren’t paying attention because we were on the phone. We thought he was just going to drive through, and then I hear him yell, ‘What, you don’t speak effing English?’” the woman said.
Moments later, the situation turned dangerous. Dashcam footage shows the vehicle making a hard left from the stop sign toward the couple, driving across the grass and eventually exiting the park area by going over a curb.
The man, identified by his last name, Logan, said he grabbed their dog, Olive, and pulled the pet out of the vehicle’s path as the car came toward them, saying they were “barely missed.”
“It all happened in a matter of seconds, but it was definitely one of the craziest things that’s ever happened to us,” he added.
The driver, as he was leaving, allegedly made a snide remark.
“Bet your effing scared now, huh?” the driver said, according to the woman.
Bystanders told ABC7 they saw the whole thing as well.
“I just see them running toward the park, and the car came up on the curve like very crazy and then he drove away,” Sequoia Hugee, who was at the park with her dog, said.
The couple reported the incident to the Los Angeles Police Department. A spokesperson for the department told The Post Saturday it had no update on the incident.
