Meta teams up with Aiken Chamber of Commerce to unveil new Innovation Corridor

AIKEN, S.C. () – At the recent ‘State of Our Community’ gathering, Aiken unveiled the Aiken Innovation Corridor and announced the forthcoming Aiken County Chamber Foundation, set to launch by 2027.

The Aiken Innovation Corridor is a joint venture between the Aiken Chamber of Commerce and Meta, designed to enhance local enterprise and community growth.

Jim Tunison, President and CEO of the Aiken Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the benefits of substantial corporate investments, commenting, “We are confident that a prosperous business sector will lead to the success and wellbeing of the entire community.”

Andrew Siders, Vice Chairman of the Aiken County Council, expressed enthusiasm for potential expansion and new businesses, remarking, “We’ve seen significant growth across multiple sectors due to employers like Kimberly Clark and the Savannah River Site. Initiatives like this are likely to spur additional supporting businesses, which is really exciting.”

Meta has firmly embedded itself in the Aiken community, with a representative expressing excitement about establishing another data center in the area. 

Will Williams, President and CEO of the Western South Carolina Economic Development Partnership, pointed out the connection with the Cyber Center at Fort Gordon, highlighting the desire to extend benefits beyond the military. He stated, “Discussions with colleagues across the country have shown that data centers boost community links and provide employment and various other advantages.”
