Benny Blanco has sparked outrage online after posting a video of himself eating a luxury box of blueberries, which cost a staggering $200.
The 37-year-old music producer, engaged to pop icon Selena Gomez, recently posted on TikTok showcasing some luxurious blueberries, neatly arranged in sleek black packaging, with each berry in its own separate space.
In the video, Blanco expressed his amazement, saying: ‘These blueberries they just sent me are the biggest things I’ve seen in the world. Watch. They come, like, individually packed. This is insane. Look at this blueberry!’
Upon tasting one, the songwriter appeared astonished, exclaiming: ‘It’s like a f**king meal. Can you guys even see the scale of this? They are f**king huge. They are delicious. I think the boxes are like $200.’
Despite his enthusiasm, fans were quick to criticize the extravagant purchase, with many referencing the ongoing cost-of-living crisis in the comments section.
One unimpressed commenter wrote: ‘Sir, we’re not rich enough to relate to this,’ while another quipped: ‘Meanwhile I can’t afford regular fruit.’

Others shared their own grocery store struggles, with one user noting: ‘$200?!!! Here I gasped at $7.06 for my Cotton Candy grapes last week.’
Another joked: ‘I don’t even have 200 in my account! Must be nice spending that much just for blueberries.’
Some users compared the post to dystopian themes, with one user saying: ‘It’s giving Hunger Games,’ and another commenting: ‘Watching from District 13.’
A few jumped to Blanco’s defense, reminding critics of his success.
‘Everyone hating on him because he’s rich and can afford $200 blueberries… he earned his success and money,’ one fan argued.
Nonetheless, the clip, which has garnered thousands of comments, illustrates how the internet remains sharply divided over celebrity expenditures.
Blanco, who confirmed his engagement to Gomez earlier this year, has not yet addressed the backlash directly.

Fans were quick to blast the lavish purchase, with many pointing out the current cost-of-living crisis
Although he may have expensive taste in food, Blanco has praised Gomez’s more down-to-earth preferences.
In a March 2025 interview on iHeart, the producer gushed her wife-to-be is ‘extremely easy to please.’
While explaining his Taco Bell-themed proposal, Blanco told Rolling Stone that he was inspired by his fiancée love for the fast-food chain.
‘We literally play, like, N64 and order Domino’s,’ he said of his life with Gomez. ‘We’re just living our life every day. There’s not this whole elaborate thing. I think we’re very lucky to be surrounded by such great people, and we’ve still just been enjoying so much.’
She continued: ‘It feels like we got engaged yesterday, but also feels like we got engaged 20 years ago. I’ve known her since she was 18, and so it’s like we got all that stuff out of the way. By the time we’re dating, it’s like, whoa.’
