In Washington, Oklahoma, a security camera from a neighbor’s property recorded the instance when an individual poured gasoline over vehicles belonging to a McClain County Sheriff’s Deputy and set them ablaze, subsequently setting fire to the deputy’s residence.

The flames went up fast, nearly setting the person on fire.

Moments later, the camera recorded the house engulfed in flames as emergency crews respond to the scene.

More law enforcement arrived outside the home, and eventually the blaze was put out.

“A suspect poured gasoline on some vehicles, set them on fire, and the fire spread to my deputy’s house,” stated Sheriff Landy Offolter from McClain County.

The individual in question is identified as 28-year-old Austin Garrett Reeves. According to the sheriff’s office, Reeves was reportedly meant to be in custody following his arrest for breaking into the same deputy’s home just one day prior to this incident.

“I’m kind of concerned about it. Not too happy,” said Sheriff Offolter.

Sheriff Offolter said Reeves was turned over to Lighthorse Police Department because he was a tribal member, but was later released.

“I’m trying to find out why, but the prosecutor for the Lighthorse declined to file charges on him for the burglary,” said Sheriff Offolter.

The sheriff’s office said Reeves had reportedly been targeting law enforcement for weeks leading up to Saturday’s incident.

“He mainly broke into cars or possibly a storage shed,” explained Sheriff Offolter. “We’ve identified two other occurrences in the county, and today we even recovered stolen property belonging to one of the officers during the arrest.”

Reeves was arrested in Norman after a brief standoff.

News 4 is working on finding out what other law enforcement were targeted prior to the fire.

We contacted the Lighthorse Police Department to inquire about the reasons behind Reeves’ release after the burglary arrest, but have yet to receive a response.

News 4 confirmed Sunday that Reeves is currently in custody at the Grady County Jail.
