BIRMINGHAM, UK — On Tuesday, Kelly Osbourne fired back at remarks made by WWE wrestler Becky Lynch concerning her late father, Ozzy Osbourne, and his birthplace of Birmingham, England, during the “RAW” event on Monday night.
Osbourne called Lynch a “disrespectful dirtbag” in an Instagram Stories post, adding that “Birmingham would not piss on you if you were on fire.”
The issue erupted during WWE’s live show in Birmingham. Lynch, who holds the Women’s Intercontinental Champion title, was involved in an intense altercation with Nikki Bella in anticipation of their championship showdown.
“I refuse to wrestle in Birmingham,” proclaimed Lynch. “Honestly, the only decent thing that came from here passed away last month. Credit to Ozzy Osbourne; at least he was smart enough to relocate to L.A. – a real city.”
Lynch continued: “Because if I lived in Birmingham, I’d die, too.”
The Black Sabbath frontman and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer died on July 22.
Kelly Osbourne took to Instagram to voice her displeasure, also calling out WWE: “WWE, you should be ashamed for permitting such comments about my dad and his home!!!”
Lynch has not yet responded to the backlash or issued an apology.
This event unfolded as Lynch continues her portrayal of a villain in WWE, often delivering provocative remarks to elicit a response from the crowd. Nonetheless, the reference to Ozzy Osbourne’s recent passing seemed to have struck a nerve with his family.
Birmingham, situated in England’s West Midlands, is renowned as the birthplace of heavy metal music and was home to trailblazing bands like Black Sabbath, with Ozzy Osbourne serving as the lead singer from 1970 to 1979.
The WWE has not responded to Kelly Osbourne’s criticism of the organization.
