Cracker Barrel dropping new rebrand logo after backlash

In a move that might go down as one of the briefest brand transformations ever, Cracker Barrel confirmed on Tuesday that it would be reverting to its long-standing logo after a recent controversial attempt to rebrand. The logo they planned to replace has been used for 48 years.

It all comes after fierce social media backlash, in addition to derision from Pres. Donald Trump and a stock plummet of $94 million last week.

Cracker Barrel communicated via social media on Tuesday evening, stating, “We promised to listen, and we have done so. The new logo is being phased out, and the ‘Old Timer’ logo will stay.”

This reversal occurred just a day after the “Old Country Store” chain reassured patrons that despite the logo change, their menu and foundational values of “country hospitality” remained unchanged.

Critics of the new logo, which included some loyal customers and conservative figures, argued that the redesign was too politically correct, as it removed classic Americana themes along with the character “Uncle Herschel.”

Even former President Trump commented, urging the company through his Truth Social account to “consider customer feedback and return to the old logo,” suggesting that the company could gain significant publicity from such a move.

On Tuesday, Cracker Barrel, which runs over 600 locations in the United States, proudly identified itself as an “American institution” eager to welcome more visitors soon.
