In Kingsport, Tennessee, the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 in Sullivan County are shut down due to a multi-vehicle accident and subsequent fire around mile marker 60.

According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s SmartWay map, the crash was reported at 9:54 p.m. just before the Fort Henry Drive exit.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol informed News Channel 11 that their officers are at the site of what they describe as a severe accident, and they expect the investigation and cleanup efforts to take some time.

TDOT says traffic is being diverted at Exit 63, the Airport Parkway exit.
