An Open Letter to the Democrats Who Cried 'Wolf!' (Approximately One Billion Times)

A Message to Democrats: Addressing the Repeated Alarms

I’m aware that most of you reading this piece are likely center-right, so I ask for your patience as I address the Democrats and progressives who might unintentionally find themselves here.

To the Democrats, progressive advocates, and anti-Trump critics endlessly frustrated: What’s your secret for magically regrowing hair? What kind of shampoo do you use? Is it some kind of special tonic? Perhaps it’s a surgical solution or even Pirelli’s famous Miracle Elixir?

I personally dislike the expansion of government power. While I can understand the reasoning behind the White House’s actions, the decision to dismiss the CDC Director and a Fed governor gives me pause. It’s more about setting a precedent than disagreeing outright, but it certainly made me stop and think. There seems to be an impulse to act now and worry later, but I naturally tend to be apprehensive about such matters.

I am particularly uneasy about the government owning a 10 percent stake in a company and considering similar actions elsewhere. This concerns me deeply.

Part of me acknowledges that you might have a tiny point regarding Trump potentially overstepping his boundaries. However, you’re focused on this notion that Americans are allowing this to happen. It seems like you view the citizens of the United States as intentionally contributing to the downfall of democracy, and keeping up with your constant warnings of disaster is truly tiresome.

If you’ll allow me, I’d like to recall for you a story I know we all grew up with.

Do you, Democrats, realize that you’ve been implying every move Donald Trump makes is an assault on Democracy? Are you aware that your shouting, emotional distress, and violent protests have left many of us skeptical, much like the villagers in the tale of the boy who cried wolf?

Understand that this is not an admission that Trump has absolutely crossed the line into full-blown despot. Trump is no less authoritarian today than he was this time last week, last month, or eight years ago. You know how I know this? Because you’re still out there in front of every camera shouting that he is. A cursory glance at history would inform you that such a thing is not allowed under an actual authoritarian regime.

You have spent the last nine years predicting that everything Trump does is the worst thing ever and that we have entered the point of no return. And yet, if you look real close, the Constitution still stands. The system is still in place. In four years, we’ll have another president. Life will go on.

The Constitution is stronger than one president. It’s stronger than a party. It has stood against a lot in its time, and Lord knows it’s been challenged. But time and again, it comes out on top. Meanwhile, you have continued pushing Americans away by consistently taking the 20 percent side of 80-20 issues. If Donald Trump says the murder rate is too high, you will insist we need more murders. If RFK and Trump held a joint press conference on the health benefits of breathing oxygen, you will hold your breath in protest. You have insisted that everything Trump does is wrong and you must oppose it.

Americans aren’t siding with the destruction of democracy. They are turning their backs on insanity. You chased them away and then screamed at them for voting against you.

I regret to inform you that America still stands, Trump isn’t a dictator, and you just look crazy.
