“Unbridled thuggery” is how a judge has described a drug dealer’s revenge attack that claimed the life of an innocent Western Australian father.

Peter Nguyen-Ha was today handed a life sentence for shooting dead the wrong man with a shotgun in Perth’s north.

He was on a meth-fuelled revenge spree when he fired three gunshots into a Landsdale home.

He hit and kill Ralph Matthews Cox in his own bedroom.

Nguyen-Ha will serve a minimum non-parole period of 22 years.

The court heard the 35-year-old wanted revenge after he was bashed and robbed during a drug deal weeks earlier, where he lost $33,000.

He set out on a mission to retrieve the money, shooting at homes in Girrawheen before ultimately and tragically firing fatal shots at an innocent father in January 2022.

Matthews Cox’s partner Tammy Wallace was also in the bedroom during the attack, as children slept in other rooms.

The judge said there were no mitigating factors, telling the court Nguyen-Ha doesn’t have youth, good character or any remorse.

The judge also slammed the killer him for the “callous” act of “unbridled thuggery”.
