REIDSVILLE, Ga. () — The assistant chief of the Reidsville Police Department was let go on September 9 after an internal investigation.

Former Assistant Chief Jermaine Snell’s termination letter and the internal investigation findings have been obtained. The documents reveal that Snell was placed on administrative leave on July 17.

The investigation was conducted by Parker Consulting and Investigations from Martinez, Georgia. Findings show Snell misused his power as the sole custodian of the evidence room, used his administrative access improperly to download nearly 15 hours of another officer’s unrecorded body camera footage, made unauthorized uniform purchases that exceeded the budget by more than $4,000, and committed other acts of misconduct and insubordination.

Snell responded to requests for comment on his termination, asserting that the “allegations presented do not reflect the facts,” and highlighting that he has served Reidsville with professionalism, earning the title of Officer of the Year in 2024.

In Snell’s statement, he mentioned that the Ethics Committee has confirmed multiple policy violations and ethical breaches “committed by those responsible for initiating and advancing these proceedings.” He said ethics reports verify that the proceedings against him were “tainted by conflicts of interest.”

“The attempt to proceed with termination despite these findings is not only unjustified, but it also raises serious concerns about accountability and transparency within our city government,” stated Snell. “I have fully cooperated with every investigation and hearing, yet I have not been afforded the due process that every public servant deserves.”

Snell ended his statement by expressing gratitude to his family, colleagues, and community members, asserting his intention to continue advocating for transparency, accountability, and justice.

Snell has two previous disciplinary reports on his record from February 2023, according to documents from the city. confirmed that Snell was the 2024 recipient of Reidsville’s Officer of the Year, according to the department’s Facebook page.
