FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A man from New York is facing charges for allegedly throwing glass bottles inside a Palm Coast liquor store. The incident occurred when a store clerk denied his request to purchase more alcohol, as reported by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened Wednesday after 2 p.m. at Sharps Discount Liquors in Palm Coast.

The sheriff’s office stated that 38-year-old Jeffrey Kimmel bought four liquor shots and later returned to the store wanting more alcohol. The clerk refused his request, prompting Kimmel to scream at her, as noted by the deputies. He then leaped onto the counter and knocked items off it, according to the sheriff’s office.

The clerk and other customers retreated to a back room to avoid him, as the sheriff’s office described. Reports indicated that he had a large knife in his waistband, and he was spitting and throwing glass bottles around the store.

Upon the deputies’ arrival, Kimmel was still on the counter exhibiting erratic behavior, the sheriff’s office mentioned. They removed him from the counter and took him outside, where he continued kicking, screaming, and spitting at them. To prevent further incidents of spitting, deputies placed a spit mask over his head.

Kimmel was taken into custody and faces several charges, including breach of peace, burglary, burglary with assault or battery, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, and criminal mischief.

He is currently being held on a $236,000 bond.
