LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A fatal crash in Lake County on Friday night resulted in one man’s death and left another with severe injuries, as stated by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 10 p.m. on County Road 439 near Live Oak Ranch Road, troopers said.

The Florida Highway Patrol’s report detailed that a sedan carrying two individuals — a 28-year-old man from Belleview as the driver and a 29-year-old man from Crestview as the passenger — was heading north on C.R. 439 toward Live Oak Ranch Road when, for reasons still unknown, it veered off the road to the right.

The sedan went airborne and struck a tree, troopers said, adding the driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger was hospitalized.

FHP is still investigating.
