A Tennessee judge sentenced Megan Boswell to life in prison plus an additional 33 years on Friday.

The Knoxville News Sentinel revealed that Judge Jim Goodwin from Sullivan County handed Boswell a life sentence, plus an additional 33 years.

Boswell’s sentence will keep her from ever being released from prison.

During the sentencing, the judge remarked, “This defendant showed no hesitation in killing her daughter,” adding that “She poses as a dangerous offender.”

As reported by CrimeOnline earlier, a Tennessee jury found Boswell guilty on all three counts of first-degree murder related to the death of her daughter, Evelyn Boswell.

Beyond the murder charges, a jury in Sullivan County also convicted Boswell on several other charges, including aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect.

In 2020, Boswell hid Evelyn’s remains in a trash can, which was discovered inside a play shed at her grandfather’s property. She frequently lied to the police, hindering the investigation and accusing family members of the child’s disappearance.

Gene G. Scott Jr., Boswell’s attorney, has already set in motion the process to appeal the sentencing, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel

“I’m disappointed with the consecutive sentences. I strongly disagree with the notion that she poses a societal danger, so we’ll appeal and see what the appellate court decides.”

The judge will hear the motion for a new trial next week.
