HINESVILLE, Ga. () — The Hinesville Police Department (HPD) released a statement on the increased police presence in schools.s

On Sunday afternoon, the HPD responded to the rise in law enforcement presence at elementary schools in Hinesville, which had sparked concerns among parents on social media:

“Owing to a current deficit of school resource officers, HPD officers have stepped up to assist by working at local elementary schools during their days off.”

The statement mentioned that this assistance was sought by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) and the Board of Education to ensure the safety of local schools. The police reassured that this is a temporary measure and there is no reason for alarm.

HPD’s assistance will finish once the School Resource Officer Division is fully staffed.

“We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the HPD officers who have volunteered their time to support our schools and community during this period, working on their days off to ensure the safety of our children.”
