BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – On Sunday evening, two pedestrians lost their lives after being hit by a vehicle in Brevard County, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened on North Courtenay Parkway and Grove Boulevard in Merritt Island around 8 p.m.
The initial investigation by FHP reveals that a 1991 Lincoln Town Car was heading south on North Courtenay Parkway, just south of Grove Boulevard, in the outer lane.
The two pedestrians, a man and a woman, were walking westward when they entered the path of the Town Car outside a marked crosswalk, leading to the collision, as stated by the FHP.
Troopers said both pedestrians were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Town Car, a 26-year-old man from Rockledge and a 3-year-old passenger, were not injured and remained at the scene.
Both directions of North Courtenay Parkway are currently closed.
The crash remains under investigation.
