The Chatham Police Department recently earned statewide recognition at a banquet held in Northern Illinois.

The Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police presented the CPD with an award for its accomplishments in the Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge, which acknowledges law enforcement’s efforts to improve traffic safety. This challenge promotes enhancing community safety through comprehensive strategies, including a mix of initiatives, policies, education, and enforcement.

The award was presented to the winning agencies during the Midwest Police and Security Expo in Tinley Park, specifically recognizing the CPD in the category for municipal agencies with 11-25 sworn officers.

“This is an incredible achievement, and we are humbled to receive this award,” CPD officials wrote on Facebook.

In addition, the CPD received a specialty award in the Bike/Pedestrian Award of the Year.
