The Beckhams shared an entertaining video featuring David making jam, which was also perceived as a playful jab at their son Brooklyn and possibly a sign of their displeasure towards Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, as suggested today.

The former England captain channeled his inner Duchess of Sussex and turned fruit from his Cotswolds home into conserve.

Victoria Beckham recorded her amused husband during the process, amusingly commenting on his ‘juicy plums’ and later breaking into laughter over a jar labeled ‘David Beckjam’.

But it came just a week after after their estranged son Brooklyn gave his social media followers a tutorial on how to make jam.

And at the heart of Meghan Markle’s As Ever range is her own jam, which she calls ‘fruit spread’, and most recently an orange marmalade.

A source, closely associated with Victoria for numerous years both professionally and personally, informed the Mail that it was no coincidence Victoria participated in David’s jam-making video.

‘Victoria has got a very wicked sense of humour’, the insider said. 

According to the source, ‘The jam video appears to be directed at Brooklyn, undoubtedly’, they remarked to the Mail’s source, adding: ‘Victoria’s commentary might also be subtly targeting Meghan’.

David and Brooklyn are thought to not be on talking terms as their long-running family feud rumbles on. 

Brooklyn, 26, and his family were last pictured together on Boxing Day last year and he has seemingly not spent any time with them in the UK since. 

And the Beckhams also reportedly fell out with the Sussexes earlier this year, having previously been friends.

They were apparently ‘furious’ with Meghan and Harry who allegedly accused them of leaking stories to the press about the royal couple.

At a recent dinner Meghan and Nicola are said to have had a ‘deep and meaningful’ chat and share a bond after being accused by critics of being ‘home wreckers’ and women who ‘tear apart their husbands’ families’. 

Asked if Victoria held a grudge against Meghan, the friend said that the Beckhams are much more preoccupied about with their relationship with their estranged son.

But royal watchers also believe that David and Victoria’s video of him making plum jam is a dig at the Duchess of Sussex.

Her As Ever raspberry spread is billed as being ‘inspired by the recipe Meghan crafted in her home kitchen’ – but the Mail revealed that is in reality made by a food manufacturer with a factory in Illinois.

One critic said: ‘Meghan and Harry must have really p***ed off a lot of people – David Beckham spent an afternoon in his kitchen, cooked up some plum jam, and was infinitely more watchable than that With Love nonsense’.

Another tweeted: ‘David Beckham has had more interest in his jam and he’s not even selling it’.

The Beckham family were all out to celebrate Romeo’s 23rd birthday in London on Friday night but Brooklyn was nowhere to be seen.

Following the birthday night out, Victoria started her story by filming David and asking: ‘We are labelling, what have you decided to call you jam?’, to which he replied: ‘Got a surprise for you darling’. 

She went on: ‘So we’ve had a weekend of cooking’, after which she was swiftly jibed by her husband who queried: ‘We?’ – proving the Spice Girl was not involved in the work in the kitchen, where David was hard at it.  

Victoria conceded: ‘Well you have, I’ve been watching! You’ve been making lots of jam and look what you’ve made – David Beckjam! He’s very proud. How many Beckjams have you made darling? You’re quite the entrepreneur aren’t you!’ 

Earlier in the process, David shared snaps of the freshly-picked plums on Saturday as well as some other produce from his vegetable garden.

Videoing them on the hob he wrote: ‘@victoriabeckham get ready for my jam’, as he cheekily said in the clip: ‘You can’t wait to taste my plums!’

David often shares updates on his garden where he also keeps bee hives which produce honey for the family.

At the end of August, Brooklyn unveiled his latest cookery video – with a seemingly unlikely influence for his most recent creation in the form of Meghan Markle.

He took to Instagram to share a tutorial on making jam, as his feud with his parents rumbles on amid allegations of tension between the aspiring chef and his wife Nicola Peltz, 30, against the famous couple.

Jam has been a hot topic of late, as Meghan hit headlines earlier this year for unveiling her own pricey raspberry jam, which is sold under her name, the Duchess of Sussex, by her As ever brand at a whopping £6.50 a jar.

While Meghan has been cashing in on her royal name to sell the spread, Brooklyn’s efforts were merely to teach his followers how to mimic his recipe, however he has capitalised on his culinary passion elsewhere with his hot sauce range.

It was claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan are ‘secretly supporting’ Brooklyn and Nicola because of their ‘similar family feuds’ and have met up to discuss their issues.

While Brooklyn’s jam was born of a traditional recipe, Meghan’s As Ever raspberry spread – is not technically a jam because of its high fruit content.

Her jam is made from: ‘Raspberries, organic pure cane sugar, organic lemon juice concentrate and fruit pectin’.

She revealed for the first time in February that ‘jam is my jam’ – and recorded a video explaining why those who know her best are aware of her secret love of making jam.

When she first released 50 fruit spreads and sent them to her nearest and dearest friends she was careful to point out that each one was homemade at her kitchen table using her own recipe.

On her Netflix show With Love, Meghan, she described harvesting berries in her kitchen, making small-batch jars, saying: ‘I did save one of 50 for my mom.’
