Nine-Year-Old Texas Boy Hospitalized Due to Brain Swelling After School Altercation

A 9-year-old boy from Texas is in the hospital with serious head injuries after an altercation at school, as reported by several sources.

According to KPRC-TV in Houston, the incident occurred on Friday afternoon in the gym at Samuel Walker Houston Elementary School in Huntsville. The school was momentarily placed on “temporary hold” while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.

The Daily Mail reports the boy was involved in a dispute with another student over a basketball.

Details about the fight are limited, but KPRC states that the boy was first taken to a local hospital and then airlifted to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.

A CT scan, according to the Daily Mail showed the child was suffering from severe brain swelling.

The boy was released from the hospital Tuesday, the boy’s mother told KPRC.
