Donald Trump Jr. expressed his sorrow to the nation following the passing of Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative figure and co-founder of Turning Point USA.
Trump Jr. posted this statement on X:
“Expressing grief like this isn’t something I’m used to, and finding the words to convey the immense loss I feel with Charlie Kirk’s death is tough. Charlie was not merely a close friend, he felt like a younger brother to me, and to countless others worldwide, he stood as an incredible source of inspiration. He represented one of the bravest and most principled men I’ve encountered, living each moment with intention. His unwavering faith in God, his profound love for Erika, and the way he cherished his two lovely children reveled the essence of who he was. Charlie was committed to causes greater than himself, continuously championing this nation, advocating for the values that define America’s greatness, and fighting for the future generations. The profound impact he made on the youth, reaching a vast audience, emboldening them to assert themselves, fostering independent thinking, and advocating for freedom is beyond measure. Without a doubt, Charlie’s efforts and his resonant voice were pivotal in my father’s presidential victory. He influenced the national trajectory. Charlie posed no threat to anyone; he was gracious, kind, and approached discussions with civility. His only ‘threat’ lay in his outstanding effectiveness as a truth-bearer, and that is what drew him into the crosshairs. This tragedy is overwhelmingly devastating, not only for Erika and the children but also for our entire country. We have lost a leader, a warrior, and a man endowed with rare virtues. To fathom that his life was prematurely ended by such a brutal act of malice is beyond comprehension. It’s horrific and shattering. Instances like this reveal how delicate life truly is, stressing the importance of expressing love and admiration while time permits. Charlie knew he was loved, but it bears repeating: he was like a brother to me, a sentiment I’ll carry eternally. Charlie’s legacy endures; he empowered millions who will perpetuate the torch he brandished. He constructed a foundation destined to outlast him, rooted in faith, truth, and conviction. In his honor, I promise to cherish life boldly, proclaim truth fearlessly, and uphold his spirit of resilience. His battle is not over as it persists within each of us who cherished him. This is an indescribable loss, for me, his family, his admirers, and America at large. Rest in peace, my brother. While words fall short in expressing the enormity of this loss, your legacy remains, and we pledge to continue your fight.”
Charlie Kirk and Donald Trump Jr.’s history together
Trump Jr. and Kirk shared a history that traces back to when Kirk became a fervent supporter and ally of Trump Jr.’s father, President Donald Trump. During the 2016 presidential campaign, Kirk served as Trump Jr.’s personal aide.
Last year, Turning Point USA’s political division assisted in energizing Trump’s campaign, mobilizing disengaged conservatives that proved instrumental in securing a victory in Arizona by 5 percentage points, the organization’s headquarters.
“The remarkable and legendary Charlie Kirk has passed away. No individual understood or connected with the youth across the United States better than Charlie. His appreciation was widespread, and his absence is profoundly felt. Melania and I extend our heartfelt condolences to his wonderful wife Erika and family. Charlie, you are loved dearly!” President Trump wrote on Truth Social.
