SAN DIEGO (Border Report) — The singer Bad Bunny has declared he won’t be holding concerts in the United States for his upcoming “Debí tirar más fotos” tour, citing apprehensions about “ICE agents potentially being at my concerts.”

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, made those comments to i-D Magazine in a story published Sept. 10.

Earlier, he had told Variety he was skipping the U.S. because he saw it as an unnecessary stop to promote his new music.

In an interview with i-D, he shared that the actual reason is his unease with President Trump’s immigration policies and the threat of ICE agents being present outside his concert venues.

“The concern about ICE agents showing up [at my concert] was something we discussed and were very worried about,” he explained. “There were numerous reasons for not performing in the U.S., none stemming from hate — as I’ve had many shows there before. Each one has been successful and extraordinary.”

In the past, he has expressed disapproval of President Trump’s politics in regard to immigration and ICE agents working in Puerto Rico.

In June, Bad Bunny claimed to have witnessed an ICE raid in Puerto Rico targeting people from the Dominican Republic.

“Sons of b——, instead of leaving the people alone and working there,” Bad Bunny said in a video he posted on Instagram following the incident.

Bad Bunny is considered to be primarily a Latin Trap and reggaeton artist who has sold over 111 million equivalent album sales around the world.

Rolling Stone magazine notes that his singing and rapping embody a “conversational tone, with a low, relaxed voice, fluid melodies, and a rapper’s rhythm.”

Bad Bunny has also acted in several films including the recent release of “Happy Gilmore 2.”
