Actor Owen Cooper just made history at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday evening.

The 15-year-old claimed the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or TV Movie through his performance in the Netflix series “Adolescence,” becoming the youngest male actor to secure this honor.

“Honestly, when I began these drama classes a few years ago, I never anticipated being in the United States, let alone here, but I believe tonight proves that if you listen, focus, and step out of your comfort zone, you can accomplish anything in life,” he stated during his acceptance speech. “I was nothing about three years ago, and now I’m here. Who cares if you get embarrassed? Anything can be possible.”

Cooper surpassed competitors such as Javier Bardem for “Monsters: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story,” “Presumed Innocent” actors Bill Camp and Peter Sarsgaard, Rob Delaney for “Dying For Sex,” and fellow “Adolescence” actor Ashley Walters.

“Adolescence” is about a 13-year-old who is accused of murdering a classmate.
