ORLANDO, Fla. – A tropical wave moving across the central Atlantic is producing a large area of disorganized showers and storms.
Right now, dry and stable air is keeping this system in check, but that’s not expected to last.
Conditions are expected to become more favorable for development by mid- to late week as the wave continues moving west-northwest.
The National Hurricane Center announced on Monday that there is an 80% likelihood of a tropical depression developing in the next seven days, with the greatest possibility occurring after Tuesday.
Although the immediate formation of the system is less probable, with only a 30% likelihood in the upcoming 48 hours, predictions indicate that it is likely to intensify gradually once it moves into a more moist and unstable atmosphere.
This area of interest is still well out in the open Atlantic, but many long-range model runs keep the system out to sea.
However, it is still too early to be certain, so make sure to check back in the upcoming days.
